Is OctaFX Regulated in Malaysia? What BNM's 2022 Entry Names

Not by BNM: its alert list has carried OctaFX since 2022, naming seven Malaysian collecting agents. What the entry shows, and what Octa says it is.

Is OctaFX Regulated in Malaysia? What BNM's 2022 Entry Names

OctaFX is not regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia, on the central bank’s own record. BNM’s Financial Consumer Alert List has carried an OctaFX entry dated 29 September 2022, and it names seven Malaysian “collecting agents” with their registration numbers. Octa’s own published entity map lists no Malaysian company.

This is an evergreen question answered as a dated register check; every 2026 date below is the day a page was read, not an event.

Is OctaFX regulated in Malaysia? What BNM’s entry says

This desk read BNM’s Financial Consumer Alert List on 3 October 2026. The OctaFX row is dated 29 Sep 2022 and reads “Collecting agents of OctaFX as per following”, then lists them:

No.Name as printed by BNMNumber as printed
iGavann Entertainment Sdn. Bhd.1486933P
iiPro Niaga ConsultationSA0385991W
iiiDass City Holdings Sdn. Bhd.1486888W
ivMus Tech Trading Sdn. Bhd.1472611D
vAl Mierul International Sdn. Bhd.1487076A
viWan Energy Solution (M) Sdn. Bhd.1486752D
viiTaqara Solutions Sdn. Bhd.1486752D

That is six Sdn. Bhd. companies and one business, Pro Niaga Consultation, which carries no Sdn. Bhd. suffix. Rows vi and vii share a number as BNM prints it; we reproduce it rather than correct it. The entry also names two domains, www.octafx.com and www.octafxmy.net, plus Telegram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and two Instagram accounts, one of them octafx_official_Malaysia.

The XM row, as our check on XM recorded it, named a brand and a web address. This one draws the local terrain: who, in Malaysia, was taking the money in 2022. It does not say whether those companies still do, and it charges none of them with anything.

What does a BNM alert-list entry prove?

Less than affiliates fear and more than they admit. BNM calls the list “a guide to enhance the awareness” of entities wrongly perceived as BNM-licensed, compiled from public reports after its own assessment. An entry means not authorised by BNM for regulated financial services. It is not a fraud finding, and the page gives no reason for this one. Our review of BNM’s and the SC’s alert lists covers the limits in full.

The Securities Commission keeps its own Investor Alert List, but its results render by script and no OctaFX line was readable to this desk’s automated fetch. That is an unread page, not an absence, so this post says nothing either way about the SC list.

Which Octa company would sign a Malaysian client?

Octa set out its structure in a company-authored piece on Finance Magnates, “Octa Breaks Down Its Legal Structure”, dated 15 October 2025 and read here on 3 October 2026. It describes a brand-sharing model of independent entities and lists five. Octa says Octa Markets Ltd holds Mwali licence T2023320 in the Comoros; Uni Fin Invest holds FSC Mauritius licence GB21027161; Orinoco Capital (Pty) Ltd is an FSCA intermediary, number printed as FCP 51913; Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd holds CySEC CIF licence 372/18; and Octa Markets Incorporated is a Saint Lucia business registration, 2023-00092, operating, it says, without a dedicated forex licence.

Those are the company’s claims; this desk read none of those registers this run. The piece names no Malaysian entity, and none for St Vincent or Kenya, though an affiliate page read for this post quotes both. It says clients are served “solely by the entity disclosed” in their account documents, which is the right answer to the wrong scale: it does not say which entity that is for Malaysia. The Tickmill version of this question shows why that line matters more than any footer. Octa is welcome to answer it, and we will add the reply.

One more marker has moved. www.octafx.com, the first domain BNM lists, answered 410 on 3 October 2026 with “This website is no longer active”. That retires a domain. It does not show the firm left Malaysia. The Exness check runs the same method on another broker.

Questions readers ask

BNM’s alert list identifies OctaFX as not authorised by BNM, and Octa’s own 2025 entity list names no Malaysian company. That describes the broker’s status in Malaysia. Whether a resident may lawfully trade with an offshore broker is a separate legal question, which this desk has not tested against Malaysian law and this post does not answer.

Is OctaFX regulated?

Octa says, in its company-authored October 2025 piece, that separate companies under the brand hold a CySEC licence, a Mauritius FSC dealer licence, a Mwali licence in the Comoros and an FSCA intermediary licence. Those are the company’s words; this desk did not read those registers. None of them is a Malaysian licence.

Is OctaFX safe?

Safety is not a register field. What the record shows is narrower: a BNM alert-list entry since 2022, a brand split across independent companies, and an entity map that, as published, has no Malaysian member. A client’s protection depends on which company signs the account, and Octa’s published map does not name one for Malaysia.

Why is OctaFX on the BNM alert list?

BNM’s entry does not say. It gives a date, 29 September 2022, the collecting agents, two domains and a set of social accounts, but no reason. BNM describes the list as a guide to entities that may have been wrongly perceived as BNM-licensed, built from public reports after its own assessment. It is not a finding of fraud.

The risk line, plainly: a leveraged account with a company in Fomboni or Castries puts both your capital and any dispute a long way from Kuala Lumpur. Licensing varies by country; check your broker’s local status yourself, and read nothing here as a reason to trade.
